What to read...

So one thing I have been slacking on lately is reading....

I have so many baby books to read, and it is so hard for me to get into them and read them.  So I think if I start off with some fun books to read first, I will get into them after!

So these are the books on my list so far to read:
1) Mortal Instruments - Book 1 & 2
2) Where'd You Go Bernadette?
3) The Happiest Baby on the Block

Does anyone have any more recommendations for any good reads????  I would love to hear them!

Campillo Family Shower

A couple weekends ago, Zach and I celebrated a baby shower for Baby Campillo back where it all began in Chicagoland.  Thank you to Zachary's family and our friends for hosting such a beautiful tea party shower!  We were overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity that everyone showed us.   It was so wonderful seeing our family and friends that we have not seen since we moved!  Thank you so much - we love you all!

Tea of the Week!

I am bringing back Tea of the Week!  So everyone!  Here is my newest tea of the week posting...

When you are pregnant, you cannot drink too much tea or too many kinds of tea so I am keeping it really simple with authentic British teas or English Breakfast teas - that are decaffeinated.  I got these in Door County last summer and have not been able to drink them as much as I have wanted to but, they still are very plain and good!

Typhoo tea is England's version of Lipton Tea.  The "Keep Calm Carry On" Tea is an English Breakfast tea!

Notice the little tea caddy on the right - the bed and breakfast we staying in Door County used those to serve tea in.  I loved them so much, Zachary surprised me with 2 - one for home and one I keep at work to hold my tea.

So DONE with Winter!

Hi everyone!

Ok it is my Lenten promise that I will be blogging more!

We have been busy planning baby so I have just been exhausted!  We are in baby shower mode and nesting mode right now!

We have been busy but good busy!  Just to give a little update on life...

This is what we have been up to:
1) Pediatrician = DONE!
2) Daycare = DONE!
3) Hospital = DONE!
4) Crib/Dresser = DONE!
5) Lamaze Class Scheduled = DONE!
6) Breastfeeding Class Scheduled = DONE!
7) Baby Prenatal Yoga = In the middle of!
8) One last trip to Mequon to relax = DONE!
9) Nursery Painted = DONE!
10) Zachary's baby bookcase painted = DONE!
11) Second Trimester = DONE!
12) Campillo Family Baby Shower = DONE!
13) Work Maternity Leave Plan = DONE!
14) WINTER........ = DONE (at least I hope!)

I don't know about anyone else, but I am SO DONE with winter!  The weather this week has finally been in the 40's - but snow is possible tonight, this weekend, and next week.  Snow - you can go away.  I am ok with that now - thank you for a beautiful Christmas and Winter - but I am ready to say good bye!

Thumbprint Valentines and a Baby Valentine Surprise

So for Valentine's Day, I decided to make homemade valentines this year.  I thought the idea of this thumbprint valentine was cute!  Take a look below...

Zach loves referring to Baby as "Sweet Baby Campillo"

I can't wait for next year when I get to make a valentine with Baby.  It will be a lot of fun!  So for a surprise little valentine gift for Daddy from baby, I made this picture frame Zachary can have it his desk while working.  I have to modge podge it after the baby comes because the modge podge smell makes me a little woozy right now!  But I think it is fun!  I'm trying with my creativity gene - it will get there!  Also, notice the football background on the frame.  I combined two pieces of scrapbooking paper and cut them to the size of the frame, and then I added the stickers to spell out Daddy + Me.  I figured - boy or girl - this baby is going to love football!!!

Still needs to be modge podged and finished...

I will be putting one of our ultrasound photos in it - until Baby comes.

Shrimp Enchiladas with Creamy Jalapeno Sauce

So I think it might be ironic, but being pregnant, I can handle a lot more spice than I would normally.  I like all spicy things.  Not sure if that is the best for me, but I like it!  And Zachary likes that too because he loves spice - the hotter the better!

So last night for dinner, I decided to try this pinterest recipe for Shrimp Enchiladas.  It was DELICIOUS!!!

I HIGHLY suggest this dinner, but one thing Zachary and I have found, is that these nice dinners, are probably going to be more weekend meals!

I would love to know what others make for weeknight meals when working full-time.  What are your best tricks with getting everything ready and taking care of a baby???

What I Have Been Loving Lately...

Ok so lately, I have been loving a few things in my life, and I just wanted to share:

1) Zach (my husband) - I love Zachary all the time, but over the last couple weeks he has been such a trooper.  He has gone to all these appts for daycare and has rearranged all of our bedroom furniture in two three bedrooms to get ready to start the nursery.  I don't know where I would be without him!

2) This recipe from Ina Garten - Roasted Sausage and Grapes.  I forgot to take a picture, but I made this this past weekend for Zachary and I and it was so easy and such a beautiful rustic Italian dish.  I also shrunk the recipe down just for the two of us.  We served it with a side of risotto.  It was delicious.

3) Lately, I have been loving renting movies from the movie store.  I know it is more and more popular for Netflix and the internet and other streaming ways of movies, that movie chains like Blockbuster are no more.  But there is video store not far from Zachary and I, and we love watching movies from there on Friday nights.  It has become a little bit of a tradition for us.  This past weekend, we rented the original "Barefoot Contessa" with actor Humphrey Bogart and actress Ava Gardner  So cool to see where the name really comes from!

4) I also am loving THIS nail polish!  It dries so crazy looking!  It is very cool :)  It is OPI's - It's Frosty Outside Liquid Sand Nail Polish.  Since my nails have been growing like crazy, I try to make them look nice!

What's Been Cooking Lately...

Ok while I was pretty sick for the first 20 weeks of pregnancy, I think it was because of the lack of food I ate, I loved watching Barefoot Contessa on TV.

So recently I made her chopped salad for dinner - I made it a pregnancy friendly salad because of the cheese.  I substituted blue cheese with Satori - Gold cheese which is a WI based cheese company and is DELICIOUS.

This would be a GREAT salad for hosting a women's luncheon or a shower of some sort.  

I also made this delicious spread for the last Packer/Bears game of the season - I know a little late on the post.  I have mad the pretzels before - which are Zachary's favorite - but this new recipe for bruschetta I tried was OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD.  I highly reccommend it!

Recap of the Holidays...

I know this is really late but here is a recap of the Christmas and New Years Holidays!

A week before Christmas, my mom, sister, and I had a girls weekend of cookie baking and gift making!  We made a TON of cookies and also made bookmark gifts out of paint samples and homemade tile coasters!

I don't have any pictures from actual Christmas, but it was very nice to be in WI for Christmas.  I haven't been home for Christmas in a long time!  For New Years, we went down to Chicago to visit with some of our bestest friends!  It was such a blast and so much fun!  We saw Morgan and Conor's new home and it was nice to spend quality time with friends!  Below is a pic of Zachary and I before we went out to dinner with Morgan and Conor for New Years Eve at this DELICIOUS Mexican restaurant in Geneva - Bien Trucha!

Baby Planning...

Hello everyone!

Happy New Year (21 days late!)!  I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season!

Life has been busy busy busy for Zachary and I.  And this year has been busy with...Baby Campillo!

Over the last few weeks we have been busy planning baby and are in complete baby mode.  Touring hospitals, interviews with daycares/nannies, interviews with pediatricians, registering, nursery planning...all that jazz!  So it has just been hard to get the energy to blog when all I do is go home and sleep!!  I should probably slow down - but won't get many more chances to get all this done :)

It is so exciting to be going through all this - a little overwhelming - but exciting too :)

Baby is doing great and so is mom.

One of the things that I have loved started planning is the nursery.  Ever since Kate Middleton walked out of the hospital with Prince George - I have been obsessed with the baby line Aden + Anais.  So what did I go do, yes I went out and bought the swaddling blankets that Prince George came out of the hospital in.  And yes, they are so cute!  The pattern is jungle jam which is perfect for a neutral setting for baby.

Aden + Anais makes a lot of different brands for Target and other other stores.  But this is the original - you can buy it from Nordstroms.  I got mine from Amazon - I found it the cheapest there.  But there are a lot of great patterns are available!  Click HERE to go to the Aden + Anais website to take a look at all their fabulous finds!  I also got the bibs as well at a little boutique in MI over Thanksgiving when we were visiting the in laws.

I know I know - crying baby :(!

Now back to the nursery...we are doing a gray and white theme - with emphasis on the phrase "Keep Calm and Carry On."  I want the nursery to be as calming as possible!  I will start taking pictures as I start developing it!

Back to Blogging....

It's funny - this morning I am watching Barefoot Contessa - Back to Basics.  So I thought a good title for this post would be - Back to Blogging!

Well my friends it has been quite.some.time.

There are some reasons for that - mostly 1.   Of course life is busy and work is busy.  But there is one main thing that has been taking up my time the last 3-4 months.

That's right...Zachary and I are expecting our first baby!  Although we are so so so excited - the last 3-4 months I have been sick sick sick.  So it has been so hard to just be able to sit and write at the computer without running to the bathroom or sleeping.  I'm sure some of you women out there who have had children have experienced the lovely side effect called "morning sickness"  which should be called all day and night sickness!  But good thing is, even though I am still not the best - Zofran is helping and each day is getting better and better!

Baby Campillo is due in May and for all of those individuals wondering - no we are not going to find out!  We are keeping it a surprise which will be hard but we are very very very excited about!

Let's see what else has been happening in life.  I left you last with pictures of our garden and our trip to up north!

Well we have had a lot going on since!  Zachary and I took a really fun weekend trip to Door County!  Being a WI girl, you would think I have been there before, but I had not!  So it was a fun new experience for the both of us!

We had such a nice time going to the beach and visiting the wineries - it's like our own Hamptons in WI!  

Then at the end of August we traveled to MI via the Lake Michigan Ferry, the US Badger to visit Zach's family for his 30th birthday!  Here are some fun pictures of our trip.

Then our good good friends Morgan and Conor came up to visit for a weekend to celebrate Zachs's 30th birthday!  And then....the morning sickness hit!!!  So I do not have any pictures for a few months - but I promise we are ok and the baby is growing!

Garden Update - Almost end of Summer!

It is almost the end of summer and our garden is still in full bloom!  Take a look below!

This is a large strainer filled with all types of tomatoes!  

Zucchini, Egg Plant, Green Peppers, Chili Peppers, Jalapenos, Basil, Dill, and more Beefsteak Tomatoes

With the eggplant, Zachary made eggplant lasagna!  It was delicious!!!  All from scratch, minus the noddles!

I didn't get the best picture of it - but it was so yummy!

Kampfire Kones

I LOVE S'MORES!  Everything S'Mores - I love!  So when I was up north and my cousin Carrie showed me this twist on s'mores, I was more than happy to try!

Kampfire Kones (K is for Kuepper - which is my cousin's last name).   Take a sugar cone, line it with anything you want - like Nutella or Peanut Butter or maybe even some sort of Jelly - then add some mini marshmallows and add some chocolate chips or butterscotch chips and then add some mini marshmallows on top of that.   Wrap the cone in tin foil and put it over the fire and let the deliciousness happen!

These were so amazing - I might have had too many!  Take a look below!  Your mouth will drool!

Blind Wine Tasting Game

While we were up north this year, my cousins and I decided that we wanted to participate in a wine tasting.  Well, I got a gift a few years back of this "Blind Wine" Wine Tasting Game.  So, I decided to bring it and use it for our wine tasting.  All of us were required to bring 1 bottle of wine. We had scorecards on taste, smell, clarity, and color.  Once all the wines were ranked, the winner was announced!   And the winner, my cousin Mark, who brought a Tropical Passion Fruit Moscato - won a medal that was provided!  Once we got back from up north, I sent out the thank you post cards that were provided in the game for all those that participated!

Up North 2013

At the End of July/Beginning of August, the fam went up north!

Let me tell you a little bit about the Kaminski family up north:

We have been doing this for years and years and years.  I have been going up north to Land O Lakes, WI since I was 9 months old.  My dad has been going up to the same place since he was a kid.  It has gone through different owners - but I owe know it as McPartlin's Resort on Lac Vieux Desert.  There are now 4 generations that have been going on the Kaminski family up north trip.  We do everything from mini golf, go karting, shopping, horseback riding, golfing, tubing, water skiing and most importantly, fishing.  This lake is a fishing lake - we fish for walleye and perch and at the end of vacation we always have a fish fry that my grandpa started doing a long time ago!  Now, my Uncle Bill is the one who does the fish fry, but grandpa is still there enjoying the fish fry!  Last year, we did not go because we went to MI with Zach's family, so it was so nice to be able to go up north with my family this year.  It is such a big tradition that it is hard to miss!

Here is a little glimpse of our up north trip!  Although it was a little cool, the weather was still beautiful!

The other weekend, prior to going up north, Zach and I ventured across state lines to attend the wedding of one my college friends and roommates.  It was so great to see all of my girlfriends from college and we were able to celebrate our friend!  Yeah to Nick and Lauren - Congrats and Best wishes!

Loving lately...

Lately, I have been loving...
1) Walks after work - especially on this trail.
2) Flowers from the Farmer's market (see below).
3) The Nines - restaurant in Mequon at the River Club of Mequon - Zach and I had our reception there prior to the renovation.
4) The necklace and bracelet seen HERE - celebrating the birth of Prince George
5) Loved this book - its a summer must read!

A Diamond in the Rough

Several months ago, Zachary and I started watching the show "Wisconsin Foodie."  It is one of the coolest shows we found on PBS when we were living in IL.  I think this show was calling us to come home for some reason - they do specials on the New Glarus Brewery (Spotted Cow anyone?), Bartolotta's restaurants, WI farms, and other fun gems that WI has to offer food wise.  WI is definitely a hidden gem when it comes to the amazing delicious food that it has to offer. 

Speaking of hidden gems, what about this diamond in the rough:  Il Ritrovo!  The other weekend when our friends the Evans' family were up visiting, we got into a discussion about this hidden Sheboygan gem!  We saw a WI Foodie episode all about Stefano's restaurants and his Italian empire in downtown Sheboygan - but we got into conversation with Katie and Mark about it and we were reminded that WE NEED TO GO ASAP to this amazing restaurant.  So of course - we did!  Who knew it was so close to us too!  I am not kidding, you live in WI, you need to go - it's a must!  If you are in IL and you are on your way up to Door County - just stop for a quick bite at this amazing pizza restaurant - it's better than Chicago pizza!  One of the very few actual Neapolitan certified/style pizzeria in the world is in Sheboygan, WI!

First time there, we did it real simple - a salad and buffalo mozzarella margarita pizza to split - also we have come home with a couple of bottles of wine as well :)  

Seriously- stop what you are doing and go right now if you have not - so far it my fav restaurant I have been to in WI.
